I know from experience,
though, that reassessing your
personal spending and changing your main
card is easier said than done, even when the numbers are on your side.
With these changes, Amex increased the annual fee on the
personal version of the
card from $ 450 to $ 550,
though introduced a $ 200 annual Uber credit, offer 5x points on airfare, 5x points on hotel bookings through amextravel.com, and more.
Last year Suntrust ran 30,000 mile bonuses for the
personal card and 25,000 for the business
card, but I haven't heard of those bonuses returning,
though if you're not in a rush to get the
card, you may want to wait.
Get Reimbursed For Business Expenses:
Though I recommend getting a business credit
card to help keep your
personal and business expenses separate, if you're in a pinch and have a limited time window to meet minimum spending on a new credit
card, it could be worth using a
personal credit
card for business expenses and getting reimbursed — or hey, if one of your new credit
cards is a business
card like the Ink Plus or Business Gold Rewards, then you should start putting your work purchases on it immediately anyway.
The 100,000 point offer does pop up regularly,
though I've seen offers of 150,000 and even heard of a highly targeted 250,000 point bonus for the
personal and business
card floating around.
What is interesting
though is that after applying for the
personal card, on the approval screen my friend was offered the chance to apply for the business version of the
card as well.

personal card into a business
