To achieve its mission, The Center coordinates animal - assisted therapy in the VCU Medical Center through its Dogs On Call Program, provides
a pet loss support group for clients of participating veterinary clinics like Midlothian Animal Clinic, conducts and publishes research documenting the health benefits of interacting with companion animals, and educates students, professionals, and the public on the human - animal interaction.
