Gaining more insight into the whole picture
of dogs and cats changing homes or becoming
homeless can help us develop prevention and intervention programs to better support
pets and their

Though the current city - owned facility is temporary, plans are in the works to create a long term effort to address the needs
of the
homeless people (and their
pets) in the community.
Messages about how spaying and neutering reduces the number
of homeless / unwanted animals born annually are the most motivating to encourage
people to have their dogs and cats sterilized, along with educating the public about the safety and quality
of low - cost clinics and the appropriate age for a
pet to undergo surgery.
The NMHP conference will be held October 10 - 13, 2013, and will bring together a variety
of people dedicated to saving the lives
