Glossy plastic on the back and plastic chrome on the edges makes this Sony Ericsson device a smudge - factory, but other than the odd - creak
the phone feels fairly solid.

This battery Mod adds about 6 mm of thickness to the
phone — making it
feel like something with a
fairly standard extended battery, if you've ever used one before.
With Ara, you're not sticking on attachments if you
feel like it — modules are a
fairly critical part of the
phone's construction, so you're not adding extra bulk by trading out a big speaker for an extra battery.
Overall it certainly looks visually more like a
phone from 2014 or 2015, but it
feels excellent in the hand nonetheless, and really looks great in general despite some
fairly large bezels.
The
phone's built with minimal fuss and with its round edges, it might
feel slightly bulkier but it's
fairly easy to handle thanks to its size.
In terms of packaging, the P9 features a
fairly standard look and
feel, with a flat, square design that displays the
phone quite nicely.
There are still
fairly large bezels top and bottom, compared to other recent releases, but we much prefer the look and
feel of this
phone to last year's Sony Xperia XZ1.
Some will not care for this plastic
feel, as it's
fairly obviously plastic coated, but in the end it means we're still getting a better - built
phone underneath.
With its light plastic frame and rounded edges, the
phone itself is
fairly attractive but doesn't
feel premium.
