Current treatment to stop this spread, called laser
photocoagulation, places an approximately 1 millimeter square grid
of burns uniformly across the back
of the retina outside the area
of good vision.
Between fifty and sixty percent
of children with vascular anomalies will require some form
of treatment, whether it be medical, surgical or laser
photocoagulation.
