I remember standing on my kitchen island trying to get an overhead shot because that's back when I actually thought you could make AND
photograph food in the kitchen.
In my «Notes from the Field» feature I visit and
photograph the food in my kids» lunch room weekly and one thing I've noticed is that a surprising number of kids do take the vegetables, despite the fact that it's an offer - versus - serve system and they're not required to.
Meaning, I haven't been writing everything down or
photographing my food in the most flattering of ways.

Often I have
food already made
in the fridge from dishes I have
photographed for the blog but not always.
I use this lens for everything from my
food photographs, to travel and everything
in between.
But since I've become more interested
in food styling and
food photography, I've come to learn that every
food can be beautiful
in its own way, and almost any
food can be styled and
photographed beautifully.
Why is it that the things I love to do,
in my case making good
food,
photographing it and sharing it with friends via this blog, always seem to take a back seat to all the other things I have going on?
Unfortunately, our house guests happened to get
in the way of me
photographing and blogging everything we did with the
food.
I've never actually worked
in the film industry, and I spend literally all my time baking,
photographing, writing about, and serving
food.
In fact, lots of those ladies also like to make
food,
photograph it, and write about it on the internet.
To let you all
in on a behind the scenes process of
food blogging, there are many times when you
photograph a dish prior to ever tasting it.
In the weeks leading up to «the big move» I pretty much gave up on trying to make and
photograph food at dinner time.

I have to displace half of my kitchen
in order to set up for my
photographs:)(my poor housemates are banished from the kitchen during this time) what a mission
food blogging can be!
Partly because I was pressed for time and
in a rush to
photograph them (and had to use the super harsh, early morning light), but mostly because there's been a disproportionate amount of brown - colored
food in this space (these, those, and this)(and now you're looking at more) and it's summer and the farmers market is bursting with vibrant produce and I'm just over here whipping up shit with peanut butter and chocolate.

food label condition, a trained researcher showed each child sixteen different

food label packages that varied with regard to fruit content (i.e. real fruit v. sham fruit) and label elements.
I always say that a good cookbook should take you somewhere, whether it's a new frame of awareness with
food, or the
photographs and voice have the ability to transport you
in as much as possible.
Though my own blog is not about
food, I always find such inspiration
in your words and

What I * don't * understand, however, is how a
photograph of a tray of
food — without any recognizable human beings
in the photo — can violate anyone's privacy (unless it is the privacy of the administration cockroaches who prefer to do their dirty, dirty work

I have gone into my own kids» public school lunch room,
in a relatively affluent neighborhood
in central Houston, btw, and have seen (and
photographed) poorly prepared
food — items that are still frozen, items like green vegetables that are grossly overcooked, to the point of almost being brown, etc..
