Finally, an event that was not an exhibition but was nevertheless a significant occasion for the Atlanta community: On October 12, 2017, Atlanta Celebrates Photography presented a conversation between artist Marilyn Minter and curator Michael Rooks.

Just this past year, we welcomed the addition of Ayn Foundation with a captivating series of crosses from the iconic Austrian painter Arnulf Rainer; The International Center of Photography (ICP) at Mana opened its gallery on our 6th floor; we launched the Mana Urban Arts Project with Shepard Fairey's largest mural to date; Mana Wine began offering interactive wine tastings and events; our Chicago location participated in the first Chicago Architecture Biennial with a presentation of Richard Meier's process and vision; during Miami Art Week, our Wynwood location hosted a blockbuster program of exhibitions; and Mana Contemporary was named one of the Top 10 Private Museums in the U.S. by Artnet News.

On the event of the exhibition David Milne: Modern Painting, running at London's Dulwich Picture Gallery from 14 February — 7 May 2018, fellow Canadian artist and Photo London Master of Photography 2018 Edward Burtynsky discussed with exhibition co-curator Sarah Milroy the extraordinary legacy of Milne's work and the relationship between the painter's pictures and Burtynsky's early photographs.

A number of events expand on the themes explored in the exhibition including a tour led by the exhibition curator David Campany (20 July, 6.30 pm, Free); the exhibition's curator David Campany is joined by writer and critic Brian Dillon, artists Xavier Ribas and Eva Stenram for a symposium discussing notions of time, perception and the history of photography (17 June, 2 - 6 pm, # 15 / # 12.50 concs); and award - winning essay film - maker Grant Gee presents his study of the late German writer W.G. Sebald which is a multi-layered exploration of place, memory, longing and dust (29 June, 7 pm, # 9.50 / # 7.50 concs).

Focusing on sites and events of cultural significance, Pavlovic examines the power of photography to shape the perception of history as an expression of people's dreams and aspirations by projecting and conflating self - images and national ideologies.

The event concluded with a presentation by Deborah Willis, Chair of the Department of Photography & Imaging, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and a Pratt Fine Arts alumna and honorary degree recipient, reflecting on Gordon Parks» life and vision, followed by a closing discussion led by Willis and Hilger.

FotoFocus Biennial 2016, Photography, the Undocument, is on view through the month of October, with exhibitions and events at more than 100 participating venues in Cincinnati and surrounding areas.
