The original story caused a bit
of confusion among people who
did not understand the process
of pre-selling
physical copies of games via 3rd party retailers like Amazon.
I wanted to discuss the Retro Revenge included, but our digital
copy did not unlock, and now lists a release date
of August, which is weird as I hear the
game is on the
physical discs.
While
physical copies of the
game have been delayed until May, those wanting to go digital can
do so this week, though the Switch version
of the
game is strangely $ 10 AUD more than on PS4.
I already own all three
games digitally (and am lucky enough to have a
physical copy of the first
game which I
DID N'T have to pay out the nose for), but for the series's Japanese fans, that would be pretty sweet!
According to the Kickstarter update, roughly 8 months ago, a publisher approached Crate Founder, Arthur Bruno, about
doing the boxed
physical copies of the
game.
I don't mind that it's only digital (I bought almost all my Wii U and three quarters
of my 3DS
games digitally,) but it's too bad the option isn't there for those who prefer
physical copies.
I guess if you want a
physical copy... but why you'd want to
do that when you can just buy it on the eShop and not deal with the extra minute or two
of having to boot up the Wii U's Wii menu in order to play the
game is beyond me.
With IndieBox, you get a digital
copy, thanks to the Steam code for those who don't want to break the seal on their collector's edition cellophane wrapping, PLUS a
physical copy of the
game along with a box, soundtrack, controller and other assorted goodies.
Players who purchase a
physical copy of LEGO City Undercover on Nintendo Switch at retail are getting the complete
game, and
do not need to download additional content to enjoy the full experience.
But yet that's what every other console
does, everybody cried about loving the
physical copies of games but yet digital sells more.
so the problem here isn't on digital stay at an inflated price it
does on just about every store front and platform, the problem is they chose not to release a
physical copy of the
game that could be distributed outside
of their own store.
@Letters2Kay FYI, you don't save any space with
physical copies since the PS4 fully installs any version
of its
games.
I hope that Sony
does not underestimate the consumer demand for
physical copies of games that can be saved, shared, resold, work in 20 years, etc..
With
physical copies, you don't have to worry about being locked out
of a
game you purchased, unless there is a server issue.
Do you think that it's likely to start releasing
physical copies of these
games if they get enough attention as far as digital downloads go?

gamers because even
physical copies of games now install on to the hard drive, so what can we
do about it?

I can't stream that functionality because while I
do own a Japanese new 3DS, it can not stream, so I bought the
physical copy of the
game hoping I could switch the cart between the two systems and have my cake and stream it too.
This is for a digital version

game, but seeing as it's # 15 cheaper than a
physical copy, we didn't think you'd mind.
So, if we're getting a box,
does that mean we'll get a
physical copy of the
game possibly too?

did say their probably won't be no

of getting Thief digitally, but if they
do not offer the extra mission that
physical copies come with then my money is going to
GAME store and not Xbox store.
From what we've heard, it's become much easier to
do this now that Retro City Rampage released a
physical PS4
copy of the
game.
Most
of the
games are available online so that players can download them and don't have to find
physical copies.

I brought 3
physical copy of vita
games today, 2 were on this list and they worked fine, 1 was not and
did not work.
So, typically the idea is Josh and I go after
games that we want to see
physical [
copies of] that we like, and then we also go after
games that our fans have requested, that maybe we didn't notice before.
Having said that though, incredible companies such as Limited Run
Games do produce
physical copies of the best indie
games.
With this in mind, if you're the type
of person who doesn't hold back on digital downloads then you're going to have to approach this far differently than someone who plans on buying
physical copies of most
of their
