Nominated for PIPA for the first time this year, Felipe Cama uses images taken from different medias, from digital ones going around the internet, to advert pictures, photographs found in virtual holiday albums and historical artworks reproductions: «My work is in thinking about the image, how it is produced, distributeed, how this changes the way we consume image».

We've evolved to respond more vigorously to threats that are immediate and easy to picture mentally, rather than those that are distant and abstract; we're more sensitive to intentional threats from specific humans, rather than unintentional ones resulting from collective action; we're terrible at making small sacrifices in the present to avoid vast ones in future; our attention is seized by phenomena that change daily, rather than those that ratchet up gradually over years.

Bottom line: responsible reporting should note these are only «possibilities», yes, but same said responsible reporting should also inform readers that not one but several recent studies change the picture (veruss 4 - 5 years ago) from «remote possibility» to a «higher probability than previously thought» for such shut - down scenarios.

, the red pitcher on the second shelf was a thrifted treasure from a few years ago, the red birdhouse is one I spray painted this summer, the apple picture is one I've had for lots of years, and the pretty little lamp was «shopped» from around our house and I just changed out the shade to coordinate with the other red stuff in this little setting.
