Ezekiel's
picture of the righteous man indicates that» [he] does not oppress any one, but restores to the debtor his pledge, commits no robbery, gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with a garment, does not lend at interest or take any increase» (18:7 - 8).
This not only paints a vivid
picture of a righteous man being unjustly put to death, but it declares it to be all part of a divine plan, for the man suffers vicariously for the sins of others.
