However, the highlight is arguably the new

On the feature film side of things, Guillermo del Toro took the top

prizes went to the presumptive favourites

Whoever wins this, it'll show (I think) that that was the runner - up film for Best

in previous years and they weren't quite ready to hand the once «difficult» Russell (Playbook) the top

Part of that stems from the fact that despite its writing and directing Oscar wins, Three Wives fell short of the top

picture, best adapted screenplay and best supporting actor for Mahershala Ali.
Hidden Figures taking the

Picture honestly seems right on brand as it's big ensemble with name actors
in a movie everyone likes, without the big Oscar nominee
in the race.
It's the second year
in a row the award has gone to an English - language Best
Picture nominee: «An Education» took the
prize last year.
