It is a strange
picture that we are given of Jesus during these first days in the temple: arguing freely with Sadducees, scribes, and Pharisees; parrying more or less subtle attempts to lure him into statements that could be used against him; answering sincere
questions and approving good answers to his own
questions; pronouncing fiery invectives against influential
teachers who opposed him; lamenting the failure of Jerusalem to respond to his challenge; and then calmly pointing out to his disciples the tiny but sacrificial offering of a poor widow.

Um, and when I saw those words, you know, I kind of remembered that student, but I also saw something worth sharing and so I took a
picture of it, I uploaded it to my new Twitter account, and I really just hoped that other
teachers would ask the same
question to their students and, much to my surprise, they did, and it ended up, you know, going viral and, you know, like TV cameras all of a sudden came to the school and there was a lot of attention on it, and it really amplified my students» voices.

As
teachers have staged walkouts and strikes in West Virginia, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and perhaps Arizona, most of the news coverage has focused on big -
picture questions about state education budgets or average
teacher salaries.
Such a dashboard gives a more complete
picture of a school, better preparing parents to ask
questions of their child's principal,
teachers, or school board members.
This approach, in other words, encourages preservice
teachers to plan by organizing experiences (web - based
pictures, video clips, songs, statistics, simulations, etc.) and
questions about those experiences that will likely lead students to construct an understanding of an essential principle, concept, or theme.
Students can work on the strategies suggested in their journals throughout the week (e.g. draw
pictures to help visualize the text) and the
teacher can provide quick feedback through notes or
questions in the journal (e.g. «What did you learn about the setting by drawing that
picture?»)
