Speaking of, it's likely that this hacking incident is in direct relation to Superfish —
a piece of adware that Lenovo had been secretly adding to machines.
Right - click on the icon in the Taskbar and click Close Window, making sure to notice that it actually admits that it is
a piece of adware called AdwareBooC.
The problem is that only a few
pieces of adware worked this way in our research.
These pieces of adware insert themselves directly into the browser, and they are analyzing and running even on secure sites like your bank, credit card site, and email, sending back data to their servers.

Every now and then one
of them will try to serve up a
piece of Windows
adware, but for the most part they are smart enough to know you're a Mac user and serve up the appropriate
piece of crapware.
The first thing we downloaded — some stupid screensaver — included four
pieces of really terrible crapware, including two that had
adware like ShopperPro and BoBrowser that just take over your system.
In other corners
of the Web, you might download a free game or a
piece of music from an untrustworthy site, ending up with malicious
adware that hitched a ride along with it.
We were testing out some freeware download sites to prove our assertion that all download sites are pushing bundled crapware (and yes, they are) when we ran across a truly terrible
piece of malware called BoBrowser which replaces Chrome with a lookalike that is chock full
of adware.
Last week, news broke that many Lenovo computers were shipped with a dangerous
piece of Superfish
adware, which made the computers vulnerable to malicious hacks.
