Not exact matches
The Addams Family doesn't pretend to be anything more than a
pure piece of entertainment for young and old, with lots
of delicious dark humor, kooky characters, and a great deal
of side jokes to keep the laughs coming, even if the plot isn't particularly gripping.
But on a
pure pop level, as a
piece of big - time mainstream
entertainment, let us also celebrate this:
From the visually compelling opening credits, to the action - packed ending, The Kingdom may have certain flaws in terms
of its simplification
of complex world events, but taken as a
pure piece of entertainment, it is certainly more efficient and intellectually stimulating than most actioners
of its ilk.
Historians may scoff, but taken as a

of Heaven strikes all the right notes to make this one
of the better epics to come out in the post-Lord
of the Rings environment.
The powerhouse ensemble is more than up to the task, Edgerton, Ejogo and Keough all having moments
of pure, unadulterated terrifying paranoia where their emotions leap off the screen as if we're watching a documentary and not a fictional
piece of genre
entertainment.
On balance, though, Django Unchained is fine
entertainment, full
of memorable performances (Waltz is excellent), great cameos by personalities forgotten by everyone except Tarantino (e.g. Lee Horsley, TV's Matt Houston back in the»80s; Franco Nero, the original Django in the 1966 movie), and crackerjack set -
pieces (the sequence with Don Johnson's Big Daddy leading a charge
of bumbling racists is
pure comic gold).
In the end, John Q is completely manufactured hogwash — an expensive
piece of pure propaganda disguised as
entertainment with a message that could have been compelling had the events seemed remotely close to what might happen in reality.
