The phrase
"pillow form" refers to a cushion or insert that shapes and fills out a pillowcase. It helps give pillows a plump and full appearance.
Full definition
Use them as «slip covers» for your throw pillows or
buy pillow forms that allow for you to change the cover.
For example — if you have a 18 × 18
inch pillow form, cut your fabric 20 × 20 inches to account for the seam allowance.
You can save so much money by covering
simple pillow forms, boring pillows or even ugly pillows with fresh new fabric.
For example, if you buy a 16 ″
square pillow form, cut 2 burlap squares 18 ″ wide x 18 ″ tall.

ON PILLOW FORMS: For those of you who asked which forms I like the best, many of them I already had, but I recently bought a couple I really like.

down pillow form I had already, and sewed the back, envelope style, for easy removal.

I don't allow for seam allowances in a pillow cover because I want
my pillow form to fill the cover.
I simply took two
pillow forms, cut two pieces of drop cloth one inch bigger on each side (I like 1» seam allowances because I'm not a very good seamstress!)
Then I simply spaced the hearts out on
my pillow forms and hot - glued them in place.
Then I stuffed
the pillow forms inside and stitched the fourth sides together.
Best part is that it cost me nothing to make, I had the scarf — black duck cloth fabric,
pillow form and felt in my craft stash!

You need a zipper large enough to allow
the pillow form to be inserted easily into the pillow cover.
The pillow cover takes a lot of stress when removing
the pillow form.
That's when I insert a zipper into the bottom of the pillow cover to insert
the pillow form.
To create the front of the pillow cover, cut one piece of fabric the same size as
the pillow form.
Because the fabric should fit snugly over
the pillow form, this measurement includes a half - inch seam allowance.
This piece includes both the knit case and
the pillow form; case is not removable.
If
the pillow form is very firm, it may be necessary to add an inch to both the length and the width of the pillow.
If that floral pillow looks wonky it's because I haven't made it yet and the fabric is just draping over
the pillow form.
Obviously we still need a small pillow insert for the monogrammed pillow in front (it's just leaning against
a pillow form in the photos), a king - sized bedskirt, a big, puffy down comforter to stuff inside our duvet cover, and according to Kevin - a big, puffy featherbed to stuff underneath our fitted sheet.
I was able to make a whole bunch of new pillow covers for our living room, using
the pillow forms I already had, for just $ 15.
