I used
these pillow inserts so I made my squares 20 ″ x 20 ″ (in retrospect, I would recommend only 18 ″ x 18 ″ for these inserts).
If you often like to change themes or motifs, it may be best to invest in

Even not
so great sewers (like me) can cut two squares a little smaller than the
pillow insert and sew wrong sides together leaving room to turn inside out, stuff the
pillow and hand sew the rest.
So, I unzipped the cushion and put an older down
pillow insert that was too flat for a nice
pillow but perfect to boost the compressed sofa cushion.
I too am a lover of the feathery down
pillow inserts, they lay
so much better on a bed or couch in my opinion.
The
pillows themselves are
so comfy and the covers even come with gorgeous
inserts.
I always buy
pillow covers 2 ″ smaller than the
insert so they'll fill out well.
I then had our seamstress add a zipper to the bottom
so we can easily remove the
