Water continues to flow, genera - ting electricity, until
the piston reaches the bottom of the cylinder and the tank is full of water.
This means the intake valve is open even after
the piston reaches the bottom of the intake stroke.
The intake stroke finishes when
the piston reaches bottom dead center (BDC).

If you are seeing that the
piston is not
reaching it's potential inside of the bore, you have something going on in the
bottom end which will need attention (possibly a complete rebuild).
The gas at the top of the tube would be warmed (thus increasing its pressure slightly (ideal gas laws temperature change constant volume tube) and like a
piston this pressure increase would propagate down the tube at the local speed of sound in the gas causing adiabatic heating of the gas in each subsequent layer until it
reached the
bottom of the tube, instantly replacing the heat lost to the silver wire.
