I made a lot of replacements with things I already had in my apartment - Pecans in place of walnuts, oregano in
place of fresh thyme, and honey in place of syrup - was still delicious!

place of salt) liquid smoke to taste 2 tablespoons minced
fresh parsley Optional garnish: a teaspoon
of fresh minced parsley and a tiny pinch
of Old Bay seasoning per bowl
Place the lemon slices and 6 sprigs
of fresh thyme on top and cover with foil.

In the summer, I make a variation
of this using blanched field peas
of any variety, and I substitute
thyme for the spring herbs and
fresh garlic in
place of the early green garlic
of spring.
After 30 minutes take the bell peppers out
of the oven, lightly season them with sea salt in the inside and
place them in a dish, stuff each one with the couscous and
place a seared shrimp on top
of each stuffed pepper, garnish with
fresh thyme

of vegetables, and add
fresh herbs like

fresh herb will taste great in
place of the
thyme and oregano in this recipe, but don't use rosemary — it's too strong.
Place grated parmesan cheese, a tab
of butter,

An additional gourmet touch: Sprinkle the stuffed portobello mushroom with
fresh homemade seasoned breadcrumbs: (sage, rosemary and
thyme — or just a tiny sprinkle
of poultry seasoning in the breadcrumbs), and
place under a preheated broiler for just seconds.
