I had some Rancho Gordo black beans already cooked, so used them in their bean stock in
place of the beef stock (plus one can of chicken stock, having it around).

I actually made it with the ham bone from our Christmas dinner and made my own ham
stock for the base (in
place of the
beef broth) and used one less can
of black beans»cause that's what I had on hand.
I used
beef stock in
place of the water and all spices used were from the Spice House.
You can also substitute
beef and
beef stock in
place of the chicken or use pork for a very traditional Chinese meal.
