Alternatively, you could follow the recipe and do half & half almond butter and almond flour or half & half sun butter and ground sunflower seeds
in place of the powdered peanut butter.
In
place of powdered peanut butter, you can use more protein powder or even 5 tablespoons (25 g) of unsweetened cocoa powder for a chocolate variety.
I added garlic powder, some garlic salt, & green onion; next time I'll add minced garlic
in place of the powder / salt.
You could easily use diced onion and minced garlic in
place of the powders, it was just what I had on hand, and definitely worked great!
Adding minced garlic (if using in
place of powder) at the very end.
If you used the powder, reserve 1/2 cup of the finished kefir and use in
the place of powder to innoculate the next batch you make.
Note you can also substitute one tablespoon vanilla extract in
place of the powder, though you will get a slightly alcoholic aftertaste.
