The programs highlighted in the report across three action areas — precollege interventions to help students speed up and catch up, streamlined
postsecondary placement practices to smooth student transitions, and redesigned freshman - year experiences to meet student needs — show what is possible when community colleges take action and collaborate deeply with K — 12 schools to align expectations and promote college readiness for all students.
In an effort to
align placement practices across schools, the district created this document that outlines the district's placement strategy and course sequencing for secondary students with varying language and proficiency levels in both core content classes and supplemental / intervention courses.
Current placement practices may force some students into remedial math courses they don't need, jeopardizing their progress through college.
It also made no distinctions among suppliers and thereby devalued the importance of responsible breeding, training and
pet placement practices that are so critically important to successful pet ownership.
However, as the total euthanasia rates continue to decline and people receive only a hazy notion of what «no - kill» means, shelters are getting pressure from the public and from their memberships to abandon responsible
adoption placement practices and go no - kill.
The goal of some pet laws is to reduce surplus shelter animals by eliminating irresponsible breeding, but if only the most conscientious breeders with good
placement practices obey the law, then the net result of the law is to reduce puppies and kittens from the best, most law abiding sources.
The report found that challenges include: potential applicants not being effectively incentivised to apply; recruitment and
placement practice being inconsistent; limited leadership development opportunities and leaders not getting the support that would keep them in role.
These two systems should also collaborate to reform remedial education by creating consensus around a definition of remedial education,
placement practices, and structures for remedial education in public higher education institutions.
The court did note that plaintiffs successfully highlighted some inequitable practices regarding tenure and seniority protections, but placed the blame on district administrators — and not state law — for their counterproductive hiring and
placement practices.
The authors conclude with recommendations for the K — 12 and community college systems to improve assessment and
placement practices.
Furthermore, assessment and
placement practices have implications for equity.
So along with encouraging pet relinquishment, feel - good laws guarantee that good breeding and
placement practices will be replaced with poorer practices, and in the long term they assure an increase in shelter animals — one of the original target problems that the new restrictions were supposed to solve.
