For
more than 45 years, we have been the retail pet industry leader in the area of
animal care with ongoing staff training programs, in - store
animal husbandry systems and community service programs aimed at
placing homeless pets and curbing pet overpopulation in the community.

Animal Care and Protective Services.
The group has been organized to provide a
more efficient means by which to find and identify quality facilities in which to
place homeless, abused or abandoned
animals, facilitate the exchange of information among
animal caregivers, and to create public awareness of the national problem of
homeless native and non-native wild and domestic
animals.
Without the tireless efforts of these groups working to
place homeless animals with permanent families and educating the public about the responsibilities of dog ownership, many
more of these wonderful, adoptable pets would needlessly be put to death each year.
It's an exciting time for
homeless pets and
animal lovers, as
more than 90,000
animals have been
placed into loving homes since our lifesaving mission began in 2007, and we are only continuing to grow.
And, in turn, the perception of the shelter by the public is that the shelter is
more of a community resource rather than a holding
place for
homeless animals.
The move
places Phoenix among the
more than 40 cities in the U.S. and Canada that have enacted this type of ordinance, designed to increase the placement of
homeless pets in permanent homes and decrease the number of
animals euthanized in the city's shelters.

More Homeless Pets campaign is a grassroots effort to
place dogs and cats who were considered «unadoptable» into good homes, and to reduce the number of unwanted pets through effective spay and neuter programs.
To further promote prospective people and pet matches, Best Friends
Animal Society is offering $ 10 adoptions during «The One» promotion taking
place February 13 - 16 at its adoption centers in Utah, New York, or Los Angeles, as well as through participating No
More Homeless Pets Network partners across the country.
Since our inception Kitten Rescue has
placed around 17,000
animals into loving homes and helped save the lives of thousands
more homeless animals through our other programs.
We are a team of
animal - loving professionals who saw certain
homeless animals being overlooked in the rescues and shelters where they reside —
animals with special needs or behavioral issues, senior
animals, second or third - chance
animals, and
more hard - to -
place homeless animals.

animals and cut the euthanasia rate in half and
placed more than 8,000
homeless pets with new families.
In
places like India, where there are far
more stray dogs than companion ones, people's attitudes towards these
homeless animals are wide - ranging.
In an effort to help put inhumane breeding facilities out of business and
place more focus on finding homes for the millions of
homeless animals in shelters, advocates across the United States and beyond are working to pass legislation banning the retail sale of dogs and cats in pet stores unless they come from a rescue or shelter.
