What I like to do is cook up a big pot of
plain steel cut oats on the weekend / during my prep day.
We'll prepare the other half of
our plain steel cut oats in a more traditional way, to be subtly sweet and incredibly creamy.
Combine
the plain steel cut oats porridge base, almond milk and all the dried fruits in a medium saucepan.

If you can afford the expense I would buy the cheapest per ounce container you can find of just
plain rolled oats, or
steel cut if you prefer.

plain or sweeten it naturally with other slow carbs, such as roasted nuts, natural nut butter or a diced apple.
Slow carbs are mostly in minimally processed foods, such as non-starchy vegetables, squashes, most fruits, nuts, milk,
plain yogurt, quinoa,
steel -
cut oats and whole - grain sourdough bread.
