Erie County and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority («NYSERDA») have announced the development of a Climate Action and Sustainability Plan for internal county operations which is expected to save more than $ 700,000 in energy costs and reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 5,300 metric tons of carbon dioxide by 2020, equivalent to taking 925 cars off the road.

The planned research program would provide «insight into the science needed to understand potential pathways for climate intervention or geoengineering and the possible consequences of any such measures, both intended and unintended,» the report states.

I differ too in that I'm an environmentalist and think generally global warming is a farce and we'd be better to spend the money on stopping pollution of rivers and oceans, buying the amazon, and researching and finding action plans for when oceans do rise, as they will one day, man made climate change or not.

You would think researchers would welcome opportunities to balance that vast library of one - sided research with an analysis of the natural causes of climate change — so that they can evaluate the relative impact of human activities, more accurately predict future changes, and help ensure that communities, states and nations can plan for, mitigate and adapt to those impacts.

A consortium comprised by CHORA (an urban planning, architectural and research organization based in London), Atelier Liu Yuyang Architects (a Shanghai - based architectural firm), Caspervandertak (a Beijing - based CDM consulting firm) and Xiamen University, each joint - hosts of the symposium, are pitching the idea of establishing Xiamen as an «climate change incubator» — i.e. the creation of an institutional structure for the promotion and development of a series of climate change mitigation projects that will the take the form of renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) installations.

Requires the President to enter into an agreement with NAS to: (1) evaluate the scientific content of the Plan; and (2) recommend priorities for future global and regional climate change research and assessment.

Requires the Secretary of HHS, acting through the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other agencies, to: (1) assist health care professionals in preparing for and responding effectively and efficiently to the health effects of climate change; and (2) provide funding for research on such effects and preparedness planning to respond to or reduce the burden of such effects.

Report Published Identifying Climate Change Research Needs for Long - Term Water Resources Planning and Management

Among the actions recommended by the committee were a leading role for MIT in responding to disinformation about climate change and a plan to turn the campus — through research, programs, and a carbon price — into a living sustainability lab.

Teams shall conduct applied regional climate research and projects to address the needs of local and regional decisionmakers for information and tools to develop adaptation and response plans to climate variability and change.
