According to previous predictions, giant
planets that
form through gravitational collapse of gas should complete their general formation
within 100,000 years.
New measurements of meteorite ages suggest that the giant
planet's core must have
formed within the solar system's first million years.
Three of these
planets are confirmed to be super-Earths —
planets more massive than Earth, but less massive than
planets like Uranus or Neptune — that are
within their star's habitable zone, a thin shell around a star in which water may be present in liquid
form if conditions are right.
If life exists on Mars, it is most likely to be in the
form of bacteria buried deep in the
planet's permafrost or lichens growing
within rocks, say scientists from NASA.
Although destruction is more gradual on the continents, the same forces plundering Hawaii are likely to deprive the
planet of as many as half its life -
forms within just a few thousand years.
The researchers found that whether a polar cyclone
forms depends on two parameters: the energy
within a
planet's atmosphere, or the total intensity of its thunderstorms; and the average size of its thunderstorms, relative to the size of the

formed and interact, flinging some of them into the immediate vicinity of their star.
This result confirms that gas giant
planets form rapidly
within disks and validates the use of disk structures as fingerprints of embedded
planets.
As with previous studies, the researchers found that the most probable way of creating a solar system with the same
planet sizes and positions as seen today is to have Mars
form within Earth's orbit and migrate outward.
The largest clumps of matter in the universe had an initial angular momentum — and these clumps broke up into ever smaller clumps,
