While we got to
play home console versions of games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, the hardware in our home consoles were much less powerful.
Last year, I played the PSP version, and now it's time to
play the home console versions and see how that experience differs from playing on the go.

Offering the proverbial something for everyone, Not only does it give Cube owners (and PS2 owners, if you get the PS2
version) the chance to get to grips with some of the lesser known, but ultimately brilliant Sonic games of yesteryear (which are still great now), but also give the long suffering Sega masses the chance to finally
play Sonic the Fighters on a
home console.
Instead what you will get is being able to
play Axiom Verge as both a
home console game and a full - on handheld game that you can take anywhere, much like you could with the PlayStation Vita
version.
Sony also released the PlayStation TV, a short - lived, re-purposed
version of the Vita that allowed for the
play of PS Vita games on a television screen similar to a
home video game
console, though the PS TV variant was discontinued by the end of 2015.
Get the complete experience by
playing both the arcade and
home console versions on many of these titles!
I hate most rhythm games, mostly because I'm inherently terrible at them (but also partially because I don't like a lot of the music)... but I like Vocaloid music enough that I think I might give this a try on my vita... I wouldn't ever
play a game like this on a
home console so I gave a pass to the PS3
version, but I can see myself
playing this at a hotel or on the bus...
I'm not sure the
home console port would be worth it for those who have already
played the portable
version — there's nothing particularly special in terms of extras, so unless you're a collector or loved the original, I'm not sure it would be worth the money.
If you have ever
played a licensed game with both
home console and portable
versions, you might consider the latter as shakier in quality (to say the absolute least).
I spent most of my time with the PS4

There are mods available for the PC
version to tweak the visuals among other things and the rival
consoles play with far more powerful hardware, but there's no denying that Farming Simulator feels right at
home on the Switch.
A miniaturised
version of the
home console that made Nintendo what it is today, the plug and
play device seems like a deliberate nostalgic love - letter for fans and collectors alike....
I like the game and it's good to see how good looks,
plays and fits on the Vita, although there is some content missing compared to the
home console versions and it does have some odd difficulty spikes.
The first
home consoles were all just variations on Pong, but if you want to
play the purest
version today it will be the Atari 2600
version, in my opinion.
Why not give Rock Band a go which is almost identical to the
home console version that allows you to
play music by matching up the colours with the notes on your multi-touch display.
Short
version: The game
played really well on Nintendo Switch and felt «at
home» on the
console.
Regardless, new fans will find a lot fun here, while returning fans may just enjoy a walk down memory lane with a portable
version of a title they
played over four years ago on a
home console.
Given that the previous
home console release in the series titled Micro Machines V4 was also released on PSP; it is a disappointment to not see a Vita
version, although there is remote
play functionality.
Furthermore, the
home console version will deliver additional content including a terrifying new enemy, extra difficulty mode and improvements to Raid Mode such as new weapons, skill sets and the opportunity to
play as Hunk and other characters from the series.
The portable release on Vita is comparable to the
home console version on PS4 with the only noticeable differences being the simplification of levels which are split up into smaller segments, although that could potentially
play to the Vita's strengths if anything due to the increased pick up and
play feel to the gameplay working in harmony with the premise of a portable
console, although there are a couple of the extra levels that are missing.
This new
console version of The House of the Dead 3 can be
played using a PlayStation Move controller or a standard PlayStation controller, and as a special bonus SEGA has also included a unique reward for players to earn in - game: their very own virtual The House of the Dead 3 arcade cabinet for their PlayStation
Home space!
That's not to say the PS3
version isn't worth a
play, though, as it is still a terrific top - down racer on the
home console and allows for four player split screen racing.
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (UMvC3) has been on store shelves since the launch of the PS Vita, and I have to say that after
playing quite a few rounds, this fighting game is a solid port of the
home console version and you'd be hard pressed to find anything like it at this time on Sony's new handheld, well, at least until Capcom releases Street Fighter X Tekken finally for it.
If you have
played any of the
home console versions of this game, then you know what to expect, given that there are no additions to the Vita
version.
The

played Crazy Taxi in the arcades or on
home consoles, Sega's iOS
version is a perfect place to start.

version of Out Run is by far the closest experience you will get to
playing it in the arcade on a
home console, and the ability to
play it on the go helps as well.
This is a pretty neat feature that will allow gamers to rent servers for the
console version of Ark and
play with their friends, not unlike what EA has setup for the Battlefield games on
home consoles.
If you want to
play the best
version of this year's Call of Duty, you're going to want to
play it on the Xbox One X. And, that's really the point that Microsoft should be trying to hit
home right now; the Xbox One X will provide the best gameplay experience for a
console.
This new iteration will be doing something differently compared to older entries by having both a
home console version and handheld
version that will be able to be linked with online
play.
