online play is lag - free, but one problem sometimes crops up
during a four -
player match: one unlucky person will sometimes lose the ability to talk, removing the tasteful banter that makes competition so enticing.

This ability was abused
during online matches on Xbox Live, wherein lagging
players would have almost zero chance to combat a
player equipped with armor lock — this infuriated a lot of
players, and the overall competitiveness of Halo dropped.
There are 7
online multiplayer trophies, although they are technically all very much achievable with some positive teamwork such as the Benefactor silver trophy for giving 1,000 dosh
during a multiplayer
match; the I Got Your Back bronze trophy for healing a team - mate with the syringe; the Team
Player 1, 10 and 25 bronze, silver and gold trophies for winning 1, 10 and 25 survival multiplayer
matches respectively; and the Vs Zed Win and Vs Human Win silver trophies for winning a vs. survival
match playing as the Zeds and humans respectively.
Unfortunately, even playing after the game released to ensure that there were other
players populating the servers, connection issues were a major problem
during online matches.
A
player will level up by winning
online battles or by performing certain tasks
during a multiplayer
match.
Players choose from an extensive lineup of the game's iconic warriors and challenge their friends in traditional 1 vs. 1
matches, or gamers can spectate battles and interact directly with Kombatants
online during the King of the Hill mode.
Customised
match making and skill level correction
during game creation make it easy for
players of all skill levels to enjoy
online play without feeling intimidated by more experienced
players preying on newbies.
However, every
player within a Guild must combine their progression in order to collectively accomplish a certain figure to earn trophies such as Guild Battles for defeating members of another Guild
during 10
online ranked or
player matches; Guild Sparring for fighting with another member of your Guild in 50
online ranked or
player matches; Boss Damage for inflicting 20,000 in total damage
during boss battles; and much more besides, while
players are rewarded with a Guild Mother Box for earning a trophy.
This allows
players who don't have a squad or clan
during their gaming session to be
matched up with other groups
online that need
players to join them for any mode.
Unfortunately, that's not to say the
online mode is perfect:
during my time with the game I found it very easy to join public
matches against random
players, but ranked
matches were almost nonexistent — a crying shame for any good fighting game.
I had fun playing
online against other racers and, although sometimes these other
players would also ram into me
during a corner it was always clear through the straightaways and hitting those apexes just right who the better driver was at the end of the
match.
During online matches, instead of having rubbish symbols, each
player will have a service number.
