He plucked the comic's go - to
character, the awkward man - child with anger issues, out of his rarefied Happy Madison atmosphere and
plopped him down in the real world, where his social snafus and fits of rage caused everyone else to back away, slowly.
This godawful film is a vile transparency — approximating through its fictional lead
character (a white doctor who spins a globe, closes his eyes, and
plops his finger on Uganda — yaaaaaaaaaaay!)
The performance itself is appropriately fun, a balance of power and levity in which both she and the
character seem acutely aware of the necessity and burden of all that pomp and circumstance surrounding the queen's life (a better scene sees her meet with an advisor and
plop down on the floor, her legs spread out as she blithely dirties a fabulous skirt that nearly engulfs her).
VII is so confusing with its changing camera angles and
plopping tiny
characters on a zoomed screen with a skewed perspective that they had to include little floating arrows to show you where stuff is.
However, after they
plopped you into the large open world, the storyline and
character development came to a grinding halt.
