You can just add the
screws from the outside of the box (rather than having them hidden inside the
pocket holes) or even use a hammer and nails and wood glue if you don't own many power tools.
I secured the two pieces of 2 × 6 together with
pockets holes from my Kreg Jig and 2 1/2 ″
pocket hole screws.

Attach to the frame
from the bottom with wood glue and 1-1/4»
pocket holes and
screws.
These frames were made
from scrap wood (2 x 1s), my Kreg Jig (using 3/4 ″
pocket holes and 1 1/4 ″
pocket hole screws), and a little Minwax Dark Walnut stain.
Attach to 3/4 ″ plywood to legs, so the top is flush and there is a 1 1/2 ″ space
from the inner corner of the legs to the plywood, using 1 1/4 ″
pocket hole screws.
