Speaking at the SpaceX Hyperloop
Pod Design Competition at Texas A&M University on Friday, Foxx called the hyperloop a «very solid idea» and a «special moment in transportation» — one having «the potential for a moonshot» — as reported by The Verge.

The demonstration was built by SpaceX to showcase what types of
designs we should expect from students competing in the Hyperloop
Pod Competition.
Last month, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology won a
competition among more than 1,000 college students who presented
design concepts for how the Hyperloop might transport
pods of people from city to city at high speeds.
«The focus of the
competition is speed and most of the
pods you will see are built just to go fast, but we've come with a complex system that is
designed to be scalable,» Brent Lessard, project lead at rLoop, told CNBC during a phone call.
Earlier this year, Musk announced a Hyperloop
pod competition that would enable students and independent engineering teams to
design and build a subscale
pod for the train.
