In recent years, Breakwater has successfully begun publishing cutting edge literature in all genres,
including children's books, literary and commercial fiction, educational curricula, non-fiction, and
poetry, while at the same time continuing to support its culturally significant backlist
titles.

Poet Andrea Selch directed the Press from 2003 until 2015, strengthening CWP's national reputation through its
poetry series with

include L. Lamar Wilson's Sacrilegion and Evie Shockley's a half - red sea.
Along with
poetry books came more commercially successful
titles about coastal North Carolina,
including the perennial best - selling Judge Charles Whedbee books of folklore.

Making poetry into child's play zoo's who is the latest
title from award - winning poet and artist Douglas Florian, whose innovative books also

Recent projects
include test preparation guides, textbooks, parenting guides, business
titles, self - help books, music and
poetry, religious fiction and nonfiction, and study bibles.
While the Skin Set series is already a distillation of a history of content, also
included in the show is a newer body of work; Pope.L's cut - out panels are a further evolution that take lists of some thousand plus
titles from that series and materialize them, becoming their own concentrated and further abstracted source of language and
poetry.
All of the works
included in free & content are based off of
poetry that was published in a small zine of the same
title.
While this linking may be quixotic — given Mitchell's formative passion for
poetry, which provided the basis for
titles including Ode to Joy in honor of Frank O'Hara and Hemlock, from a Wallace Stevens verse — the connection is not without plausibility.
The installation
includes their iconic manga pod to read and display newly created books of
poetry, active workspaces for the creation of spontaneous works, a book forest hosting a variety of poetic
titles, a moving track of curtains for projections, and a proscenium stage for conversation, readings and viewings.

Taking its
title from Alex Katz's Face of the Poet (1978), a group of aquatint portraits of fourteen poets —
including Ann Lauterbach, Kenneth Koch, and Peter Schjeldahl — this exhibition is a focused look at Katz's early
poetry collaborations, an ongoing aspect of his work.
