I'm with you on having the tv
over the
fireplace (as much as we hate them being a focal
point), the furniture placement seems much better this way.
Also I can't handle TV's
over fireplaces, its just not meant to be, it makes the TV the focal
point of the room!

fireplace over the cabinet, won't that be too many hard surfaces (too close together)?
