With a 40,000
points signup bonus after earning at least a
point per dollar meeting the $ 3,000 minimum spend requirement
on Chase Sapphire Preferred, it appeared that earning the 44,000
points needed for two (more) nights in the best Hyatt properties was doable.

bonus points is as high as the

on this card.
And as long as the Preferred has a 50,000
point signup bonus, Chase is probably stuck with at least a 75,000
point bonus on the Reserve, which means we might very well see the
bonus on both cards drop in the future.
And since this post is focused
on the idea of second year benefits, I'm not even including that 100,000
point signup bonus, which may very well not even last until the end of 2016.
That's the effective guaranteed value of the
signup bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred if you only used its 40,000
bonus points at 1.25 cents per
point to redeem directly for airfare.

signup bonus than may become available in the future.

on certain routes, their co-branded credit card is unlikely to be the most efficient way to earn them.
While
signup bonuses can be great to give your miles &
points balances a one - time boost, what keeps those balances ticking over are the earnings from using the cards
on a daily (or at least weekly) basis.
Outside of meeting minimum spends, I don't charge that much
on cards... I will clear
bonuses with reloads to get
signup bonuses and have enough
points for a redemption in mind, but my monthly spend isn't as high as many others.
