Zinc, manganese, magnesium, thiamine are a few of the nutrients that take a beating from
poor quality carbohydrate sources such as donuts and Pop Tarts.

In fact, it appears that for the most part of our evolution we subsided on very little relative
carbohydrate content in general, apart from those found naturally in vegetables and other plant
sources besides wheat, and therefore it makes sense for us to try and eliminate the «
poor quality», processed wheat - based ones from our diet.
Depending on nutritional goals, varying levels of dietary fiber with different properties are necessary to make a highly processed food
source like commercial kibble «work», since a dog's digestive tract is not designed to process a diet with such high levels of
carbohydrates - most dry foods contain 40 - 50 %,
poor quality brands even more.
This product would benefit from at least one more
quality source of protein and the omission of nutrient -
poor carbohydrates like corn meal and barley.
