Eventually, your «fan base» will fall off then you'll be left with nothing more than a bunch of
poorly named books with no audience.

It's a decision that no one had to make a few years ago, when the only alternative to traditional publishing was «vanity» publishing, where you forked over a lot of money for a pile of
poorly constructed
books that had your
name on the cover.
Considering how
poorly trained the volunteers were — most of whom are readers and have zero idea of author politics or the indie / trad battle of bruised egos — I'm not surprised if a) one or two volunteers got the designation wrong and / or b) the overheard conversations had zero to do with the
book signing and were instead «why does your
name badge say that / what do you write / do you have a
book out?»
Also, the site's content is
poorly edited — some
book titles have typos, sometimes authors»
names are missing and so on.
