Last week, gaming website Eurogamer reported that some who have seen the next
version of Sony's PSP
portable console say it will sport touch controls on its back.
The
console has the concept
of a local
version of a television, and
portable experience.
The graphics are a bit worse than it's bigger
console brethren but other than that this
version offers so much more: New Cars and Hats, additional options to play with friend and the ability to go fully
portable with a game about freedom
of movement.
Notably, the Nintendo Switch
version of the game will feature «the controller's innovative linear vibration mode» and take advantage
of the system's ability to «seamlessly go from
console to
portable.»
Now that the
console version of Skylanders has finally caught up with the
portable one in terms
of jumping, the 3DS
version of Skylanders: Swap Force ups the ante, letting players load all
of their toys into the game at once.
PlayStation Vita owners will be getting a
version of Earth Defense Force 2017 for their shiny
portable console this fall.
Visually Size Matters may not be able to compete in terms
of the
console versions, however being that this is a
portable game it is hard to not be impressed.
With the
console version of Monster Hunter World dominating gaming headlines over the past few months, Freedom Unite is an excellent place to dive into the series in its classic
portable guise.
At the most the handheld would function as the GamePad when used with the
console, but would be a surprisingly powerful, scaled down
version of the
console, perhaps a
portable Wii U.
While the Vita is clearly capable
of handling
portable versions of the previous
console generation
of games - Persona 4, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection — I've been a little more dubious about the idea
of portable versions of games originally produced for the current generation
of home
consoles, as I doubted the Vita would be capable
of producing a solid port without some largely noticeable sacrifices in both visuals and general running speed.
A lot
of the system's past titles have been shoddy ports from previous
console versions or new games that don't take advantage
of the
portable's full potential.
Just look at Nintendo and how they're releasing a new
console, sort
of, they can make their
portable console a success because they release a new
version every year and they have a ton
of great games focused on gameplay and fun, Sony can do better than them so show us.
- when the team learned that Switch would support Unity, they began the process
of bringing the game over - it was planned early on to get the game onto Switch within a month
of it launching - by Fall 2016, Unity's optimization progressed, and error messages that previously appeared with I Am Setsuna stopped - by the end
of fall last year, the team was finished with pre-submission to Nintendo - I Am Setuna was the first title to enter this process - a meeting with Unity was suddenly held, and it was decided that I Am Setsuna would end up becoming a launch title - Nintendo asked for the developers to finish the master
version that year if possible - the team was able to port quickly due to Unity, as well as the lack
of online / vs features & modest hardware requirements - having a good grasp on specs also made work come together quickly - setting various aspects such as the app's icon, languages, etc. was said to be very simple - there was also good compatibility for titles that have / planned to have multi-platform support on home and
portable consoles
Even if Scorpio or Neo fail, the OG
versions of the respective
consoles will make it successful overall, and right now, Nintendo is more about
portables than home
console anyhow.
I'm not sure the home
console port would be worth it for those who have already played the
portable version — there's nothing particularly special in terms
of extras, so unless you're a collector or loved the original, I'm not sure it would be worth the money.
The Atari Flashback
Portable's portion shows not the infamous 2600 port
of Pac - Man, but Pac - Man 8k, a homebrew
version of the arcade classic made for the
console a couple years ago.
I'm not sure why, but Sony's PSP mantra seems to be, «
Portable versions of beloved franchises mustn't bear any resemblance to their
console bigger brothers.
I actually prefer the Vita's full
console PS3 ports
of games over the actual PS3
versions as I think they are the more superior
version of the game because I think its more impressive playing them on the Vita as the graphics are nearly as great as on PS3, that and also the fact that they are running on a handheld and are fully
portable.
Or they might be a harbinger
of how the
portable and home
console versions of Smash Bros. might work together.
In case you haven't tried it, I'd also recommend the DS
version of Alice In Wonderland, as it's one
of those bizarre cases where the
portable game was a lot more fun that the
console version (and the film, at least for me).
Regardless, new fans will find a lot fun here, while returning fans may just enjoy a walk down memory lane with a
portable version of a title they played over four years ago on a home
console.
The
portable first - person shooter, has the player kill zombie Nazis, and if you remember was a mode that was available for the
console version of World at War, which was released last year.
In the Switch, both have found their true home and compliment the system perfectly, so it's only right that the best
version of both games is found on Nintendo's
portable console.
The home
console can connect with the
portable to send to it its own
version of the games you buy, will use the same tech as the Wii U-Wii U Gamepad streaming to do that, or the internet connection
Historically
portable games are usually sh!tty
versions of console games.
The
portable release on Vita is comparable to the home
console version on PS4 with the only noticeable differences being the simplification
of levels which are split up into smaller segments, although that could potentially play to the Vita's strengths if anything due to the increased pick up and play feel to the gameplay working in harmony with the premise
of a
portable console, although there are a couple
of the extra levels that are missing.
It's too bad the Switch
version is still missing an online component, but considering the device's hybrid
console /
portable nature and built - in set
of controllers, impromptu IRL matches are just a... * switch * away.
The game takes the popular
console version of the crafting game and makes it
portable or dockable as you enjoy 60 fps Nintendo gameplay.

console version of the game, and we both agreed that the game has potential on a

From our brief time with the Nintendo Switch
version of L.A. Noire, we came away very impressed with what Rockstar was able to achieve on the
portable console.
