This week kicks off the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, and we'll be catching glimpses of plenty of indie releases that will likely be hitting theaters throughout the year, not to mention
some possible awards contenders for next year.

possible to mount something late (Fox Searchlight bought both Oscar -
contenders «The Wrestler» and «Jackie» in Toronto), it's a tall order for a fledgling studio like Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios, even with top - flight
awards wranglers on board.
La La Land, starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, was recently pushed back to December, making it a
possible awards season
contender.
Considering that the film also just won Best Feature at The Gotham
Awards this week, could it be gaining momentum as a
possible Oscar
contender?
But as we guessed (and hoped), the move was not a case of the studio dumping the picture, but instead, making sure that what they see as a
possible awards season
contender has the best debut
possible.
