Hi Ella, I want to make these brownies this weekend, but one of my friends has a
nut allergy... Is it
possible to substitute almond flour with a different flour, such as buckwheat / spelt / coconut / any other?
Is it
possible to make these without ground almonds for people with
nut allergies?
I'd love to try but both my dad and my brother have
nut allergies, is it
possible to leave out the almonds and have just oats for the topping?

possible to be allergic to coconut, the cross reactivity for those with tree
nut allergies is very rare.
As a mother of a child with peanut
allergy, I highly suggest to introduce
possible allergen food strictly following your pediatrician advice (
nuts, honey, types of berries).
Your baby should start solids at around 6 months, mainly as he will need a new source of iron and zinc in his diet.7 As far as
allergies go, it is thought to be best to introduce the major allergenic foods as soon as
possible, provided your baby is not already showing reactions to the particular food.8 These foods include cows» milk, soy, wheat, eggs,
nuts and fish.
While it is
possible to be allergic to Coconut ingredients, the reactivity for those with tree
nut allergies is very rare.
My son has sever
nut allergies and would need to substitute this ingredient if
possible.
