Having learned these lessons firsthand as a business owner, I am determined as a governor to apply them to the single greatest challenge facing our public schools today — the challenge of providing the best
possible teachers to students in our lowest - achieving schools.

Yet, there are
students who are more clever than their
teachers, and it's entirely
possible for a
student to show another way
to solve a problem.
The Tangipahoa Parish Board of Education required its
teachers to read a statement before any classroom discussion dealing with evolution urging the

to exercise critical thinking and gather all information
possible and closely examine each alternative toward forming an opinion» regarding «the origin of life and matter.»
