the post on coffee growing in Hispaniola, here is our second review of a Dominican Republic coffee (the first was Café Alta Gracia).

It's a pretty uneventful day, there is usually a morning stroll to grab
coffee and then I'm working
on just one blog recipe and
post.
Let's use this milestone as an excuse to take an afternoon
coffee and cake break (like I need an excuse...) and spend a moment looking back
on some of the best recipes and my favorite
posts of the year.
I made this
Coffee Chocolate Fudge Cake with Ganache Frosting for a birthday card photo shooting about 2 weeks ago and realized that this is the first time I am
posting a chocolate layer cake
on my blog.
I am currently writing this
post on a Monday morning feeling ALL the feels (piping hot cup of

With a family of 5 that I cook for... we require healthy snacks to have
on the counter when running late / pre or
post workout, with
coffee or tea & breakfast
on the fly for teenagers.
Desserts are numerous and this year, pre-empting the
post lunch
coffees I will make
on Mum's new
coffee machine, I am going to make and serve these sweet little almond drops.

In our background
post on El Salvador, one of the
coffees we reviewed was Counter Culture's Finca Mauritania, from the slopes of the Ilamantepec (Santa Ana) volcano.
In this
post, I'll disregard
coffee purchased under Fair Trade (which does not have strong environmental standards) and the 4C Code (see this
post on Nestlé and deforestation for information
on this bottom - rung system, which does not include environmental criteria any of us would consider as being meaningfully «eco-friendly»).
Like I said in my last Frappuccino recipe
post, when I work from home I tend to not drink all of my
coffee and then use what's left to blend up into a smoothie with Skoop vegan protein as a mid-morning or afternoon snack (depending
on how the day goes).
As I noted in the previous
post, the investment in technical assistance to farmers builds
on the commitment to purchase increasing amounts of certified
coffee, primarily from farms certified by Rainforest Alliance.
I was hoping to capture some earthy vibes in these photos because that's sort of how I feel in the mornings after a kick ass workout —
post hot shower —
coffee on deck — smoothie bowl in hand.
