The system you're proposing might be vulnerable to trolls deliberately
posting bad reviews to drag the author down, though they still have to buy the book to be able to do this, so they're probably not going to do a lot of it.
Even if the author uses this reviewer only once, a reviewer who gets a reputation for
posting bad reviews won't get much future business from the other authors either.
I have never
posted a bad review (or any review really) in my life so I feel a little bad for doing this.
But if a story isn't worth the increase, the higher price will move the stigma line and create an incentive for disappointed readers to
post bad reviews.
Nobody can post a good review (unless you use the print edition suggestion), but nobody can
post a bad review either.

worse than having someone buy your book and then they
post a negative
review because the book was not what they expected.
While a lot of reviewers write to help themselves remember what they read or to tell other readers about the book (good or
bad), the book
reviews that help indie authors are the ones
posted where readers will ultimately make their purchasing decision — or where the readers go for trusted opinions.
Because good
reviews (and even
bad reviews) can help potential readers decide they want to purchase your book, giving the book away to readers who are likely to
post an online
review is the easiest way to accomplish this.
Look for
reviews — good and
bad — forum
postings and retailer's comments.
To the
bad, that also means more competition for readers and the temptation to game the system by paying people to
post five - star
reviews of their books.

Unless your book is
badly edited, most blog hosts will
post their
reviews as soon as they finish.
Are these individuals who
post this sort of thing under «
reviews» on Goodreads correct in saying the author is a «
badly behaving author» because they stated that this was inappropriate and reported it to Goodreads staff, who did nothing about it?

The first
review,
posted on April 3rd, isn't too
bad.
Customers are less likely to
post honest
bad reviews if they can't do so anonymously or if they may be subject to lawsuits from the company that manufactures the product.
Readers are looking for something to help separate the good from the
bad and, yes, they know if
reviews are
posted by sock puppets and challenge those
reviews.
No question, it's
bad form to bellyache or challenge reviewers; it's equally
bad form to
post vicious, emotionally charged diatribes and pretend they're
reviews.
So, the minimum I can then do is, to NOT discourage the author by
posting such negative
reviews anywhere and
worse, spoil the book's chances in the marketplace forever.
I feel guilty about leaving
bad reviews, but I won't falsely
post a high
review if I don't think it warrants it.

Amazon has strict Terms of Service that prohibit the
posting of fraudulent
reviews, but that only makes the situation
worse by giving the impression that Amazon proactively polices the
reviews section (as far as I can tell, while they respond to complaints, they do not have any procedures in place to proactively identify and remove fake
