Readers have
posted more than 450
reviews on two of my indie titles since I put the gem at the foot of my
books.
Now that I've figured an easier way to lay things out, I hope to
post book reviews more frequently.

John Lott used the fake persona of Mary Rosh to anonymously defend his own work and
post reviews of his
book More Guns, Less Crime [2].
But traditional
book reviews are perhaps
more important than my «different» ones: at least, I don't think Amazon would let me
post this kind of
review on their site and that's where they need to be
People might not see every
post you make, so a simple message asking for a
review every so often isn't intrusive, but it can really help you to get
more reviews for your
book.
If you receive a
review of 4 stars or
more and your work is currently available for purchase on Amazon (your
book does not need to be on Amazon now to get your
review, we just have to wait until it is before we can
post your
review publicly), we will
post your
review on our site, Barnes & Noble, Google
Books, Facebook, Twitter, Google + and Pinterest.

Now that online
book retailers are generating 50 % or
more of fiction sales and 20 % or
more of nonfiction sales, having
reviews posted on the page for your
book on those sites has become very important.
To the bad, that also means
more competition for readers and the temptation to game the system by paying people to
post five - star
reviews of their
books.

Review Argument — With the popularity of leaving
reviews online for everything from
books to consumer goods,
more and
more consumers are relying on
reviews posted on ebook retail platforms — presumably,
reviews that were
posted by individuals who actually read the
books they are
reviewing — to give them a head's up on which
books are deserving of a five - star rating.
And while much of this might seem like nothing
more than petty playground behavior between children who honestly do not have a clear good guy or bad guy, keep in mind that several ebook retailers incorporate the Goodreads» API into their sales pages, effectively
posting book reviews that many in the Goodreads community knew to be false, and nothing
more than an act of revenge against an author; real - world sales decisions have been made by consumers based on these
reviews.
