blogging from the show floor, making regular updates
on Facebook and
posting videos of customers visiting your booth
on your website.
Blogging is an easy way to achieve this, and you can promote your
posts on your social media channels, driving traffic right back to your site.
I focused
on blogging early
on after I launched my business, and it was enormously helpful to me to be able to associate with the Huffington
Post (the first publication I started writing for), and later for the Harvard Business Review and Forbes.
When Jobs resigned from the top
post at Apple in August, Slywotzky
blogged that he was seen as an inspired savant who took big risks
on personal hunches.
He also contributes to publications like Time, Talking Points Memo, and the Huffington
Post, and
blogged for the Daily Kos when he was
on deployment in Afghanistan in 2007.
And if you're
blogging about your startup, you most likely want people to click
on your
posts when they turn up in Google searches.
I'm not saying that every
post on your site should follow the list structure, but it's certainly a valuable tool that deserves a place in your
blogging arsenal.
Step up your
blogging; offer to guest
post on an industry site; get quoted in a trade publication or site.
But for the vast majority, spending a lot of time
blogging, tweeting, and
posting on those sites won't count for much.
Hilton's first effort, PageSixSixSix.com, grew so fast that, six months after he began
blogging, the New York
Post threatened to sue him for infringing
on its «Page Six» trademark.
Just get
blogging, put calls - to - action
on every blog
post, set a visitor - to - lead conversion rate benchmark for yourself, and strive to improve that each month.
