postulated different causes of climate variability on different time scales.

Conclusion: for us to explain how a loving God could
cause us to suffer as a test, we have to assume that God's knowledge is limited, we have to explain the apparently random selection of people to be tested, and we have to
postulate a complicated system of rewards in the life to come in order for the
different degrees of severity of the test to be appropriately rewarded.

It seems to me, though, that the burden falls on those who predict a
different outcome for the atmosphere to show why the differences obviate the need to
postulate that a warmer system, upon further warming, will
cause a cooler system to cool further.
