Cooking for one, I don't generally build up enough dirty dishes to fill it, since I like to hand wash my
pots and pans, before I need something that's been sitting in it
for the past 5 days.
The advantage of having that basket is that you can just lift it out of the Instant
pot when the green beans are
done cooking, and rinse the
cooked green beans until cold running water directly in it (no need to drain the green beans and no need
for a separate colander).
This time I didn't have any of that prepared so rather than
cook the «grains» separately I tried making this a 1
pot affair
for simplicity's sake.
This is a go to in my dinner rotation, I add some home - made croutons and let them saturate
for the last 10 min of
cooking when I don't want to serve over noodles and make it a one
pot meal.

for company because you can actually focus on your guests instead of frantically
cooking, but this one is also simple enough that you can
do it on a weeknight.

pot on the stove and then transfer to any kind of baking dish

I was searching
for a non slow -
cooker pot roast (which I've
done) and this was PERFECTION.
I
did get most of this dish transferred back to the
pot and put it into slow
cook mode
for 4 hours.
I actually threw this together yesterday
for an impromptu gathering —
cooked it on High, and it was
done in 3 - 4 hours — love that a crock
pot recipe doesn't have to take hours and hours to
cook.
Meanwhile, put a large
pot of water on the stove to boil, drop the asparagus and snow peas into the boiling water, and
cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until crisp - tender (
do not overcook; the vegetables should still be slightly firm).
I don't own a instant
pot or slow
cooker, so I just
cooked it on stove top in low heat
for about 1 hr and it turned out great.
Add in kidney beans and water, stir to combine, cover with lid slightly askew (to allow steam to escape) and
cook for about 8 - 10 minutes until curry thickens, stir from time to time to make sure curry
does not stick to the bottom of the
pot.
Cover the
pot, and
cook covered
for 12 - 16 minutes, stirring occasionally (making sure to scrape around the bottom and sides when you
do), until the broccoli is bright green and tender, or

doing weekly laundry, soak the beans and
cook in my small crock
pot, and steam greens or other veg daily in my Jia steamer (thanks to Quitokeeto!)
