We had one home in England where a previous owner had installed a very tiny
powder room under the stairs.
Both suites also feature their own ensuite bathrooms and there is an additional

I chose to do this for a
powder room vanity (engineered quartz counter top /
under mount sink / European hinges / soft - closing hardware etc.) and was totally pleased with the end result.
Our
powder room is a tiny little space
under the stairs, which gives it a crazy ceiling angle, and I've always pictured it enveloped in some kind of wallpaper.
For warmth
under foot (and to prevent any unfortunate echo which is most unpleasant in a main floor
powder room), I put in a rag rug from HomeGoods with shades of gray, green, blue and white.
I've also had it in the
powder room and as a console
under our TV.
I spent days sanding a
powder room's paint lines and still can see some of the lines
under 2 coats of BM Aura paint.
Secondary spaces such as closets, mechanical areas and
powder rooms are tucked
under stairs and sloped ceilings while the primary
rooms benefit from open plans and taller ceilings.
