While
donuts are cooling combine the
powdered sugar, cocoa
powder, milk, and coconut extract until a thick glaze forms.
To make the
donuts: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Sift the cake flour,
sugar, baking
powder and kosher salt into a large bowl, add the mini chocolate chips and mix well.
Dust the
donuts with the
powdered sugar mix as you go.
Sift together cassava flour, baking
powder and salt... in a separate bowl beat the coconut
sugar and butter until fluffy... add syrup, coconut milk, vanilla and egg to the butter mixture & beat until well combined... combine dry ingredients with wet and beat again until well combined... you now have a very tasty, yet basic vanilla
donut batter.

Using a sifter, sprinkle the
donuts with
powdered sugar and serve with coffee.
Now I did douse half of the
donuts with melted dark chocolate but you can easily omit & serve with
powdered sugar or maple syrup for breakfast.
I didn't want to add too much extra
sugar to balance out the bitter raw cacao
powder, so these swoonuts are more of a milk chocolate flavoured
donut — perfect for those who don't like a heavy dark chocolate flavour.

DONUTS 3 and 3/4 cups all - purpose flour (divided, plus more for dusting) 3 cups spiced apple cider 1/2 cup apple sauce 1/3 cup milk 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 1 tablespoon baking
powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 and 1/2 teaspoons Kosher salt 1 tablespoon cinnamon (plus 1 teaspoon, divided) 1/2 teaspoon allspice 1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg 1 stick unsalted butter (softened) 1/2 cup light brown
sugar (packed) 2 large eggs 1 cup granulated
sugar canola oil (for frying)
To make the
donuts, combine the flour, 1/2 cup
sugar, baking
powder, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a large bowl.
Dip
donuts, one at a time in the butter and then the
powdered sugar, shaking around the bag contents until
donut is fully dusted with
sugar.
Fill the
donuts with a little jelly and finish off with a dusting of
powdered sugar.
They had processed high -
sugar breakfast cereals (heaven forbid they should actually cook some oatmeal), gallons of fresh milk (because
powdered is «icky» and they won't eat it), cheese (that was a luxury we couldn't afford), frozen convenience foods, juice (which is much less healthy than fruit and expensive relative to nutrients), and soda, candy,
donuts, cookies, cracker, ice cream and other treats we couldn't possibly afford.
To make glaze: Beat together cream cheese,
powdered sugar, vanilla and milk and drizzle over cooled
donuts.

powdered sugar 1 TBS organic almond milk 2 TBS melted organic coconut oil Another fun option: Make a «Lemon Vanilla» version by substituting the chocolate protein
powder for Plexus 96 Vanilla and eliminating the cacao
powder.
After cooking up the first batch, I remembered an old
donut - making trick from eons ago: You place the warm
donuts with 1 - 2 tablespoons of
powdered sweetener (like Swerve) in a paper bag and closing it, gently tilt it back and forth to cover the
donuts in
sugar.
I have had to make bagels, tortillas,
sugar cones,
powdered donuts (among many more) and next week I get to tackle pretzel rods!
