In order to shed light on superconductivity in graphene, the scientists resorted to
the powerful photoemission method: when a light particle interacts with a material it can transfer all its energy to an electron inside that material.
The high - purity samples were then studied at the ALS using a technique known as ARPES (or angle - resolved
photoemission spectroscopy), which provides a
powerful probe of materials» electron properties.
