The four
turnaround practices touch upon the expertise of many offices within our agency, and as such, our Office of District
Support must collaborate across the agency to bring to bear the best

turnaround is more than the initial jolt of bold changes in structure, authority, and personnel; it includes phases in which effective
practices and processes are routinized and sustained.

turnaround schools in Massachusetts have in common, and seek input from readers on how we can continue to improve our
supports to districts and schools.

support them, is critical, both in Denver, and across the country.
The purpose of the School
Turnaround Academy is to elevate a state education agency's (SEA) understanding of research and
practice on school
turnaround and how a state's
turnaround policies and strategies fit within a coherent system of
support and intervention for districts and schools in need of improvement.

turnaround practices provide a strong research based framework within which ESE structures an array of
turnaround services and
supports, which can be tailored to fit a wide variety of school and district needs.
