Although I'm not a fan of white chocolate, I think I'd
prefer dried cranberries or mini dark chocolate chips, I look forward to trying this recipe.
I prefer dried cranberries to raisins any day and orange is a natural pairing with cranberry, so I made a whole wheat hot cross bun flavored with orange and cranberry and iced with an orange frosting cross.

You can just leave the pomegranate out if you
prefer or yes adding something like
dried cranberries could be a good substitute.
I actually
prefer them with
cranberries to compliment the orange, so if you are feeling vivacious, go ahead and add 1/4 cup of
dried fruit into your recipe.
I
prefer to use the pomegranate seeds when in season instead of the
dried cranberries.
I don't always add
dried fruit but when I do I
prefer something with a bit of tartness, such as
cranberries or sour cherries.
I used a mix of almonds, cashews,
dried cranberries and dark chocolate, but you could easily substitute any kind of fruit or nuts you
prefer.
I will DEFINITELY be making this again (but maybe with 2/3 cup of sugar next time instead of 1/2, since the fresh
cranberries tarten it up a bit... but still much
preferred over
dried cranberries!)
